Amazon river
The Amazon River is the world's second longest river. After the Nile The Amazon is situated. It may not be the longest, but it is the widest. It flows down the highest amount water ever all the river. The Amazon produces approximately 20 percent of all the water that the world's rivers pour into the oceans on its own. The Amazon collects water from just over 40 percent of South America's Landmass, through the thousands of tributaries that join the main branch of the Amazon river. Of these tributaries, 17 are over 1600(1000 miles) kilometres long. At the time of flooded in the wet season The Amazon has become a huge wide even previous.
The Amazon river runs 4,000 miles from the Andes to the sea, and is longer than any river but the Nile. The Amazon River can be seen to change color along its length, with black and white waters sometimes flowing distinctly side by side until they merge many kilometers downstream. Four colors are recognized: white water flows from the mountains in the west from melting snow and ice; black water flows from the North Rio Negro and is darkened by vegetation; blue water flows from the south, filtered by the white sand of the central Brazilian highlands; and brown water of the Amazon mainstream is colored by suspended, eroded sediment.Beginning in the high Andes Mountains in Peru, the Amazon and its tributaries flow some 4,000 miles (6,400 kilometers) to the Atlantic through Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, and Brazil; by far the largest portion is in Brazil.Location: It flows east across South America and enters the Atlantic Ocean.
Size: The Amazon is 3,900 miles long. (6,280 km)
Discovered by: Franisco de Orellana, a Spanish soldier in 1541.
Name: Franisco named the Amazon River after reporting battles with female warriors. That reminded him of the Amazons of Greek Mythology.
Interesting information: The Amazon is the second longest river in the world. Only the Nile is longer. The Amazon passes the most water when talking about volume and flow. Along the Amazon there are many types of animals. About 250 species of mammals, 3,000 kinds of fish, 10,000 kinds of trees, 70,000 plants, and 1,800 different kinds of birds live along the Amazon River.
