SUNDARBANS-The Biggest Mangrove Forrest

The Sundarbans is the largest mangrove in the world. The area of The Sundarban is stretching about 80 km (in miles about 50) into the Bangladeshi area from the coast. This forests aren’t just a mangrove forests.
In this Forrest include some of the last remaining stands of the mighty jungle and its covered the Gangetic plain. The area that Sundarbans covers of 38000sq km. This area is covered about one-third in water.
Sundarbans is known as the home of many of birds, mammals, insects, reptiles and fishes. In the Sundarbans there are about over 120 species of fish and 260 species of birds have been founded in many thesis. Dolphin (platanista gangeticus) is also available in genetic river in the Sundarbans. Minimum eight species of amphibians and fifty species of reptiles are known to occur. Now the Sundarbans supports the only population of Estuarine or salt water crocodile on Bangladesh and this population at less two hundred individuals is estaimated. Some General Information about Sundarbans Area: About 2400sq miles or 6000 sq km Limits of Forests: Satkhira, Khulna and North-Bagerhat districts: South Bay Of Bengal East Baleswar (Haringhata) river, Perojpur, Barishal district and west Raimangal and Hariavangha rivers which partially form Bangladesh boundary with West Bengal in India.
